Create these storage bins for around $9 for 4! Use use them in my kitchen above my cabinets for hidden storage of kitchen gadgets I don't use often, to paper plates and plasticware. Supplies: Storage bins from Dollar Tree Spray paint in choice of color and finish (I choose Heirloom White in Satin finish). Allot about 1 to 1.5 cans for every 4 bins. Directions: Purchase plastic bins from dollar tree. Remove stickers from bottom and wipe clean. Place bins upside down on cardboard or in shallow box. Spray outside of bin, on each side in even strokes. Let dry 15-30 mins and repeat. Let dry a few hours and flip bins right side up. Spray paint inside of bins in even stokes. Let dry 15-30 mins and repeat. Let dry full 24 to 48 hours before using. Viola! I needed a display piece in our bathroom above the cabinets so I put this together using all items from the Dollar Tree. Total cost for project is around $7. Materials needed: 1 - glass goblet 1 - floral ring (make come in pack) 3-4 - bunches of white (or any other color desired) roses, both the open and closed variety. May need more depending on size and amount of blooms 1 - round nickel plated tray 2 - tall white "prayer" candles Directions: Cut all rose blooms off of the bunch, leaving about an inch or so of wire left at the bottom. Stick all blooms in floral foam, covering the entire top, side and the bottom with remaining blooms. Place the flower covered floral foam in the goblet. Arrange the gobblet with the tray behind it leaning on wall OR if using on table can place tray under goblet. Place a candle at each side of goblet, leaving enough room to safely burn. Violia! Found this nice whiteboard for $5 at the thrift store and gave it a makeover via some cream colored spray paint. I got this at the "Inside Out" thrift store in Belleville. By far the most organized and neatly staged thrift shop I've ever been too. Go on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday and take home a FREE loaf of Panera/St. Louis Bread Co. Bread! These loaves are huge! They also have other various St. Louis Bread Co pastries, scones etc to snack on if you stop by on one of these days. Please disregard the primer on the kitchen wall in the photo. Perhaps a future post?
A beautiful way to display dried flowers! Instead of throwing away beautiful flowers once they are past their prime, why not dry them out and display in a pretty way? I had roses from both the night Steve proposed and from my 30th birthday (30 roses! ;) which I had dried. I let mine simply air dry as is, however I learned when preserving my wedding flowers to hang the bouquets upside down and spray them with starch for best results. I originally was going to display the flowers in a shadow box, but I had an empty jar in my kitchen in need of filling. I arranged the less slightly or damaged flowers in the middle of the jar and arranged the rest around the outside edge, building layer by layer. I added two a layers of baby's breath for extra texture. I'm happy to keep enjoying these beautiful flowers for years to come! i took a tacky pink and white striped box with yellow drawers and spray painted it "heirloom white". Unfortunately I was so eager to start this project that I forgot to take a before picture! I could not find the exact drawer set, but the image below illustrates a similar look with the white and pink stripes, except my set also had yellow drawers! Remainder of the "yellow drawers" below... Masking tape was placed around the roses on the drawers to protect them from the paint.
